Arthur James Erickson
February 7, 1947 - September 10, 2024
Arthur James Erickson passed away September 10, 2024. He was born in Bexar County, Texas, on February 7, 1947. He had an older sister, Shirley. When Arthur was born, she was unable to say his name and called him “Buzz” instead of brother. From then on, his name has been Buzz.
Buzz was heavily involved with Scouting of America (formerly known as Boy Scouts of America). He became an Eagle Scout and continued to Texas A & M University. He graduated with his Bachelor’s degree in 1969. He served in the active duty Air Force for 11 years as a fighter pilot, and then finished serving his time in the Air National Guard. Buzz had a long distinguished career as a commercial pilot for Ozark Airlines, then Trans World Airlines (TWA), and then American Airlines. When he retired as a commercial pilot, he became a flight instructor and trained many new aircrews that are still flying today.
Buzz met Christi in 1984 and after a short amount of time knew that she was to be his wife. In December 1984, Buzz gained not only a wife but also a daughter, Amanda (3 years old). In 1988 he was blessed with a second daughter, Jamie Lee. Buzz was an avid bowler and enjoyed the weekly bowling nights when he wasn’t flying. He was deeply involved with his church and dedicated to Jesus Christ Our Lord and Savior. Even in the hard times of treatment, Buzz ministered to the friends in memory care or to the nurses while he was getting treatment. His faith never wavered, even until the end. He was loved and will be missed.
