Kane Crawford Turner
September 2, 1957 - August 26, 2024
Kane Crawford Turner was born on September 2, 1957, in Lubbock, Texas, to Kenneth and Macky Turner. He joined his three siblings, Kim, Keith, and Ken, as the fourth “K” and was affectionately known as “Baby Blue” because of his beautiful baby blue eyes. Kane grew up in Tahoka, Texas, where he graduated high school in 1976. He attended and graduated from Texas A&M University in 1981 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology.
Kane’s engineering career first took him to U.S. Steel, then to Frito Lay in Rosenberg, TX. He began working for Quantum Chemical in Port Arthur, then to Penzoil in Shreveport, LA, as a Senior Rotating Equipment Engineer. His career then took him to Great Lakes Chemical in El Dorado, Arkansas, as a Reliability Manager. In 2011 Kane relocated to Lindale to Delek US to his current position as a Reliability Staff Engineer Rotating Equipment Subject Matter Expert. And quite the expert he was! He was well respected and depended on by his co-workers and bosses. His passing leaves a large void in their company.
Kane married Janice (Jan) Curry on February 3, 1989, and celebrated 29 wonderful years of marriage until Jan’s death in 2018. He was blessed beyond measure to meet and marry Angel Stevenson on October 2, 2021. Although their time together was cut short by his brief illness, they were devoted to each other and enjoyed traveling together throughout the United States where they created lasting memories. Angel was truly an angel to Kane, tending to his every need.
Kane was a great outdoorsman and avid hunter; he loved all kinds of hunting, especially duck hunting. Some of his most treasured memories were teaching hunting skills and gun safety to his grandsons, Landon and Turner, and spending many many hours hunting with them through the years. He had just recently begun to introduce grandsons Astin and Colt to his favorite hobby.
In 1988 Kane made his profession of faith while living in Port Arthur, Texas, in the First United Pentecostal Church, and his life was forever changed. While living in El Dorado, AR, he taught Anger Management classes with the A.C.T.S. Ministry (Alcohol, Chemical, Treatment Series) in his church. Kane studied the Word of God; he grew in his faith. He was known for his brilliant smile, his joyful spirit, his hearty laugh, and his quick wit. He loved to laugh and bring happiness to people. He desired to be so full of God that the fruit of the Spirit would be evident to all persons with whom he came into contact. His calm demeanor, his gentle spirit, his love for all people, and the patience and kindness he exhibited certainly testify that God honored Kane’s devotion and worship.
Kane transitioned to his heavenly home on August 26, 2024. He is survived by his wife, Angel of Lindale, TX, children Misty Hawkins and husband, Jeremy, of Ault, Co; William (Bill) Birmingham and wife, Ruth Ann of Shreveport, LA; Lauren Ellis and husband, Chris, of Royse City, TX; and Andrew Terry of Garland, TX; grandchildren Landon Hawkins and wife Emma, Turner Hawkins, Abigail Birmingham, Tryston McCandless, Rhett Smith, Astin Ellis, Colt Ellis, Scarlett Ellis, and Jaxon Terry; one precious great-grandson, Walker Keith Hawkins; a sister, Kim Hurst and husband, Kerry of Lubbock, TX; a brother, Keith Turner and wife, Gloria of Mineral Wells, TX; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ernie and Effie Stevenson of Rowlett, TX; brother-in-law Lance Stevenson and wife, Sandra of Garland, TX; brother-in-law Lane Stevenson and wife Idalia of Anna, TX; and a host of extended family and friends, all who will deeply miss him.
