Jill René Huebner
October 14, 1952 - August 16, 2024
Jill René Huebner—devoted wife, loving mother, and sister—departed to heaven on Friday, August 16, 2024, in San Antonio, Texas. Jill was born to her parents, Margaret Emily and Billy Russell Hockey, in Edinburg, Texas, on October 14, 1952. Growing up, Jill was a keen student who excelled at tennis and enjoyed playing the violin in the school orchestra. She went on to receive both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Texas A&M University.
Jill was united in marriage with Douglas Huebner on October 8, 1976 and later became a dedicated mother to four children, whose fondest memories of her include frequent trips to the family ranch, playing games and sports, SCUBA diving, fishing, and spending time together enjoying her delicious cooking. Jill was a lifelong lover of music, animals, and nature and was an avid explorer who traveled all over the world—she loved experiencing and photographing new places, and ultimately visited every continent. She had many talents and interests, but her greatest gift was her capacity to love anyone and everyone around her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Jack Hockey. Jill is survived by her beloved husband of 47 years, Milton “Douglas” Huebner; children Jennifer, Clayton and wife Yana, Russell and wife Michelle, and Lindsay and husband Jim; grandchildren Caroline, Benjamin, Daria, and Charlotte Huebner; brother Ladd Hockey and wife Petra; sister-in-law Linda Hockey and niece Lorrie; and numerous other extended family members and good friends.
The family will receive friends and family for a visitation from 6:00 to 8:00pm on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at Porter Loring Mortuary North. Services Thursday, August 22, 2024, 9:30am. Dr. William Bradshaw will officiate. Interment will follow in Mission Burial Park South, 1700 S.E. Military Dr.
