Mark Anthony Gosch
August 11, 1953 - October 16, 2024
Mark Anthony Gosch passed away on October 16, 2024, in Midland, Texas, at the age of 71. He was born on August 11, 1953, in Sugar Land, Texas, and adopted later by Alice and Christie Gosch. He married the love of his life, Roxanne C. Gosch on December 18, 1981, and they had three children, Jacob, Treva, and Kevin. He was a devoted father, husband, uncle, and grandfather.
Mark was raised in Flatonia, Texas, and graduated from Flatonia High School and then went on to Texas A&M University where he was part of the Aggie Corps of Cadets and graduated as a Mechanical Engineer. After graduating from A&M he took a job with City Service and moved to Midland, Texas, where he spent the remainder of his life devoted to his family and working in the oilfield as a drilling engineer.
Where do I start, what can I say about Mark, this husband, this man I had the privilege of calling my dad? There seem to be a lack of appropriate words to adequately sum up the life of this wonderful man. A man who loved and taught my siblings and myself everything we know. He was a very passionate man who loved deeply and fiercely all his family and closest friends. He was a generous man willing to give the shirt off his back to help someone in need even leaving home in the middle of the night to go help someone who needed it. He was a man of honor and conviction in all his beliefs and passed those traits on to his children. He celebrated the highs and accomplishments of his children and was there to comfort us in our lowest of lows. Those who knew him best knew how he had the temper that could rival an exploding volcano, while at the same time acting like a giant kid, being goofy and making people laugh. He was always one to welcome new people and make them feel like a part of the family. Working as a drilling engineer caused him to be gone for weeks and sometimes months at a time, but that never stopped him from being as much a part of family life as he could when he got home. He always made it a point to attend as many functions for his children and grandchildren as he could. He was one who took the mantle of the head of the family seriously and made sure that everything was the best it could possibly be for all the family. He raised his children in the best way, teaching us as many life lessons as he could and trying his best to make sure we had everything we wanted and more. He never used the hard times or struggles as a crutch and made sure we understood how life really works and prepared us for the world ahead. He enjoyed being on the water and driving the boat for everyone who wanted to ski or tube. He enjoyed hunting and teaching my brother and me how to shoot. He made sure to raise his children in the church so we would know God and was proud to watch us grow in the Lord.
We were not ready for him to leave this world behind, but we know he is enjoying the rest he has entered into because he was called home by his Lord and Savior. We all hope and pray that he knew how much he was loved and still is, and how deeply he is missed.
He is survived by his wife, Roxanne C. Gosch, sons, Jacob Gosch and Kevin Gosch, daughter, Treva Koonce; granddaughters, Victoria Koonce and Raya Gosch, grandson, Barrett Koonce; sisters, Nelta “Neely” Walker and Martha Yaws.
He is preceded in death by his parents Christie and Alice Gosch.
A Memorial Service to celebrate his life will be held at Lewallen-Garcia-Pipkin Funeral Home on Saturday October 26, 2024 at 2:00 PM. We would like to invite everyone who has a memory or any stories of Mark to share them during this time.
