Colonel Patrick William Marks, a devoted husband, father, and distinguished military officer, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2024, he was 96.
Born on November 5, 1927, in Caldwell, Texas, Patrick was the cherished son of Anna and William Marks. He grew up alongside his siblings, Joe and Florence, both of whom predeceased him.
Patrick attended Texas A&M University, where he laid the foundation for a lifelong commitment to service. He later furthered his education with a master’s degree from American University.
His passion for service led him to a remarkable 28-year career in the military, during which he served in Vietnam and held various overseas assignments. He retired in 1977 with the esteemed rank of Colonel, leaving behind a legacy of honor and excellence.
Following his retirement, Patrick continued to contribute to the field of engineering as a consultant for Sealand. For the past 55 years, he and his beloved wife, Margit, called Virginia home, where they enjoyed a fulfilling life together. Patrick’s love and devotion to his family and country were unwavering.
Colonel Marks is survived by his devoted wife, Margit, and their son, Michael.
A visitation will be held September 21, 2024 from 5:00-7:00pm at Fairfax Memorial Funeral Home. Burial with full military honors will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
