Gregory "Greg" Ramirez '83 October 28, 2024 4:23 PM updated: October 28, 2024 4:29 PM

Gregory Harrison "Greg" Ramirez

July 24, 1960 - August 31, 2024

Gregory “Greg” Harrison Ramirez passed away Saturday, August 31, 2024, from complications of a stroke. He was sixty four years old.

Greg was a wonderfully talented artist and musician. He played the jazz guitar for over forty years and enjoyed taking photography, painting and drawing classes at New Orleans Museum of Fine Arts, U.N.O., and with a private guitar instructor. Mostly, Greg was the best friend, husband, stepfather and grandfather to our family. He loved spending quality time together with all of us. His joy was watching our granddaughters grow into the young women they are becoming and to chase the little ones around on their bikes and on the ground. He left a lasting impression on all of us and memories that we have to treasure for the rest of our lives.

Greg was born at Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland. He graduated from Clear Lake High School near Houston and Texas A & M University.

He is survived by his wife, Lucille “Lou” Adams Ramirez; stepchildren, Lindsay and Douglas Adams (Michelle); six grandchildren, Sadie, Sophia, Stella, Olivia, Sienna, and T.J., Charles Ramirez Sr.; brothers, Charles Jr. and Christopher Ramirez; and other cherished family members and friends in New Orleans, Boston, and Houston.

Greg was preceded in death by his mother, Joyce Harrison Ramirez.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the music and art department of Holy Name of Jesus School 6325 Cromwell Pl New Orleans, LA 70118.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at St. Dominic Catholic Church, 775 Harrison Blvd in New Orleans, on Monday, September 9, 2024 at 12 PM. Visitation will begin at 10AM. After the Mass, Greg will be laid to rest in Metairie Cemetery with a reception at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home following the burial.
