William Neal "Bill" Baine 

January 8, 1952 - August 29, 2024 

A celebration of life/remembrance for William Neal (Bill) Baine, of Harker Heights, Texas will be held at 10am, Saturday September 7, 2024 at the First Baptist Church, Rosebud, Texas. Family burial will be held at a later date in Prospect Cemetery, Chickasaw County, Mississippi.

Bill passed away peacefully on August 29, 2024 in Temple, Texas after a brief battle with cancer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Retired SGM Billy Baine and Dorothy Baine and brother Robert Lee Baine. He is survived by brothers Burt Baine, Brad (Kathy) Baine, and sister Barbara (Keith) Langewisch and numerous nieces and nephews.

Bill was born January 8, 1952 in Houston, Mississippi and grew up in the Killeen/ Fort Hood area. He graduated Killeen High School in 1970 and earned a Bachelor’s degree from his beloved Texas A&M University in 1977.

After earning his Aggie ring, Bill began his coaching career in Killeen, later coaching in Van Horn, Texas and finishing as head coach at Rosebud-Lott, Texas. Bill also coached tennis, basketball and baseball. He led the 2002 Rosebud-Lott Cougars to a state championship victory.

Bill attended schools in Killeen where he was usually known as a smart, wisecracking athlete who could almost always make you laugh.

Throughout his life, Bill enjoyed sports, especially golf and fishing, watching and analyzing football, and entertaining everyone with his version of games or events.

He also was instrumental in the positive development of the lives of many area youth through his work with Young Life and of course teaching and leading athletes. Bill was claimed as a dear friend by so many who knew him.

The family requests memorial donations be made to the charity of choice.

Cook-Gerngross-Green-Patterson Funeral Home in Rosebud is in charge of arrangements.
