George Clarke Wynn
March 21, 1944 - October 1, 2024
George Clarke Wynn was born in Savannah, Georgia on March 21, 1944, to Barren C. Wynn, Jr. and Mary Wynn.
George loved God, his family, his fightin’ Texas Aggies and his church and RV group families. He came all the way from Georgia to attend Texas A&M, not realizing at the time that it was an all-male school. It was while at Texas A&M that he met the love of his life, Donna, while attending a church youth mixer.
George worked multiple jobs to support his budding family while finishing his business degree, making his father-in-law especially proud to watch him walk across that stage.
After 21 years at Honeywell, George opened the George Wynn Nationwide Insurance Agency in Plano with his wife Donna. They ran the office together until retirement in 2012. At the end of his successful career, George enjoyed more time on the golf course, traveling with Donna, breakfasts with the men’s group, and RV trips. But one of his favorite pastimes was, of course, entertaining his grandchildren.
It’s hard to put such a special life into words. George was a dedicated family man – wonderful husband, father, Papa, son and friend – and he will be dearly missed until we see him again in Heaven.
He leaves behind his beautiful wife of 60 years, Donna Louise Wynn and three daughters – Kimberle Ostert and husband Jerry of Lone Oak, Texas, Dawn Melton and husband Chris of Celeste, Texas, and Brooke Rogers and husband Allen, of Plano, Texas as well as his favorite “son,” his beloved Border Collie, Tripp. George also leaves behind five grandchildren –Britney Wynn of Plano, Texas, Brandon Ostert and wife Kelly of Arvada, Colorado, Savanna Ragsdale and husband Sean of Aubrey, Texas, Isabella Ostert of Arvada, Colorado, and Wyatt Rogers of Plano, Texas – and a sister-in-law, Dianne Wynn, and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. George was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers – Barren C Wynn III and Charles E Wynn.
There will be a memorial service to celebrate George's life at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 11, 2024, at Hunter's Glen Baptist Church. George will be laid to rest at Ridgeview Memorial Park, Allen, Texas.
