Michael Byron Motl, age 78, of Universal City, Texas passed away on Monday, October 7, 2024. Michael was born in Houston, Texas to A.C. and Lillian Motl on October 31, 1945.
He is preceded in death by his parents, A.C. and Lillian Motl; sister, Marilyn; and brother, Chris.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Pam Motl. He is also survived by his brother Greg Motl; his son Casey Motl '93 and his daughter Lindsay Motl Gasek '99; along with 5 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
Michael was a proud graduate of Texas A&M University Class of '68. He served his country by joining the U.S. Army and was a Vietnam Veteran. Michael spent his free time by either working on photography or on computers, he enjoyed anything to do with electronics. He would brighten up the local pet shops by playing Santa during the Christmas holidays. He also enjoyed giving food to the local police and fire departments during the holidays when they had to be at work rather than with their loved ones.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at TruCare Nursing Home for the amazing care they gave Michael. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy can be made by donations to the American Red Cross.
A committal service with military honors for Michael will be held Tuesday, October 29, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Ft Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, Texas 78209.
Arrangements for Michael have been entrusted to Colonial Funeral Home, 625 Kitty Hawk Rd, Universal City, TX 78148.
