J. R. Wynne 

August 14, 1938 - November 9, 2023 

J.R. Wynne Jr, 85, went to join his Heavenly Father on Thursday November 09, 2023, quietly at his Rowlett, TX home with loved ones at his side. JR was born in Centerville, Texas (A small town south of Garland at that time) on August 14, 1938, to parents John R and Mable Wynne. He remained in Garland throughout most of his life and graduated from Garland High School in 1956. He was a talented athlete who excelled in football and was All State his Senior Year. He earned a football scholarship to Texas A&M University and received his BBA in 1960. He was inducted into the Garland Sports Hall of fame in 2002. JR was very active in his community and at age 20 he began his public service including City planning commission in 1963, Garland School Board from 1967 - 1973 (president 1968-1973), Garland Park and recreation board from 1986 - 2011 (Chairman 1989-2011). He was also a member of the Garland Livestock Committee supporting the local FFA chapters, Lions club, Garland Mills Cemetery Foundation and Texas deer breeders' association. He was also a longtime member of Eastern Hills Baptist Church, the church where he was Baptized and Married in.

He worked for Kraft foods, located in Garland, for 25 years as a sales manager. After leaving Kraft foods at age 46 he became active in Ranching, Real Estate, and various other business ventures including raising white tail deer and other exotic game animals. JR is survived by his wife of 65 years Marjo Schrock, whom he met at Garland High School. Two children Jadey (spouse Renee) and Julie Wynne, four granddaughters; Chelsea (Husband Brent Bartkowiak), Alysa (Husband Stefan Williams), Kylie and Madison and four Great Grand Children, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends.

J.R. loved the outdoors, where he enjoyed hunting and fishing throughout his life. He enjoyed spending cherished time with family and friends and was well respected amongst his peers. He was known for his mentorship and helping those that were in need. He was at his finest during stressful situations or times of crisis. He would rise to overcome any obstacle and would flourish in the face of adversity. JR had a rare gift where he could envision projects, Business Ventures, Real Estate opportunities and ranching from a lens that most are unable to view. He took to life, guided by his experience and knowledge, and will be remembered fondly by all who had the honor of knowing him.
