December 28, 1954 - September 24, 2024
Darrell Lane Buffington, Sr. of Little Rock, Arkansas passed away Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at the age of 69. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Buffington; his oldest son Darrell Buffington, Jr. and his wife Lisa Buffington and granddaughters Ava and Ella Buffington of Hanover, Massachusetts; his younger son Bryan Buffington of Little Rock, AR and granddaughters Audrey, Emma, Savannah and great granddaughter Adeline; his loving brother La Roy “Cap” and wife Marilyn Buffington, niece Dr. Leslie Buffington; and her son Luke; sister-in-law Janis Keene and her husband Rodney Keene; nephew Charles “Chuck” and his wife Stephanie and children Winter, Chloe and Aiden. Preceding him in death were his parents Roy and Evelyn Buffington and his son Ryan Buffington.
Darrell or “Buddy” as he was called by his family and friends was born December 28, 1954, in Gonzales, Texas and lived throughout the United States. He was a graduate of San Marcos High School in San Marcos, Texas and went on to receive his Bachelor of Science Degree in Animal Science from Texas A&M University and his Master of Science Degree in Public Administration from Pacific Western University.
He was a USDA Food Safety Inspector for food processing plants 20 years. After his long USDA career he ventured to the corporate world with Royal Caribbean where he was corporate public health and safety inspector overseeing Royal Caribbean as well as the luxury Celebrity cruise line fleet of 32 ships worldwide. During his free time, he devoted his energy and focus on his family, cheering on his beloved Texas A&M and Rutgers football teams, deeply valued time for religious reading and watching movies with Mary. He will be remembered by his family and friends as dedicated, caring, smart, fun-loving, athletic, charismatic, personable, witty, funny and a person everyone enjoyed being around anytime.
Funeral services celebrating Darrell’s life will be held graveside on September 30, 2024 at 2pm at Odd Fellows Cemetery located in Gonzales, Texas.
