March 8, 1936 - October 31, 2023
Kelly Gene Chapman, age 87 of Morgantown, KY passed away Tuesday, October 31, 2023 at his residence. Kelly was born on Sunday, March 8, 1936 in Owensboro, KY to the union of the late Orville D. and Golda Mae Smith Chapman, and husband of the late Charlda Ann Chapple Chapman. He was a member of Cool Springs General Baptist Church and a retired teacher for the Butler County Board of Education. Kelly was a Junior College All American in Basketball at Tyler Junior College in Tyler, Texas before transferring to Texas A&M University for his last two years. Kelly loved raising tobacco and had a true pride in that as well as working on the farm, a real estate investor, avid quail hunter, enjoyed gig fishing in the backwater, and spending time with his grandchildren. Other than his parents and wife he is preceded in death by one brother Donald Chapman.
Kelly Gene Chapman is survived by his children Cliff Chapman of Louisville, KY, Jay Chapman of Morgantown, KY and Lance Chapman of Morgantown, KY; two sisters Lynda Herrington of Bowling Green, KY and Nancy Cox of Colorado; four grandchildren Kellen Chapman of Richmond, KY, John Daniel Chapman of Bowling Green, KY, Rebecca Chapman of Central City, KY and Meredith Chapman of Russellville, KY; caregivers Patti Knight, I-Eshea White and Linda Woodard all of Morgantown, KY and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at the Jones Funeral Chapel Sunday, November 5, 2023 at 2:00pm with Bro. Woody Moore officiating. Burial will be in the Cool Springs Cemetery. Jones Funeral Chapel is honored to be serving the family of Kelly Gene Chapman.
