Richard "Dick" Peres
February 5, 1932 - September 22, 2024
Married for 73 years, Dick and Janice are now together again in their eternal home! Janice, in May, at 93, was surrounded by her loving husband, Dick, and her children as she left this earth. Dick, at 92, followed her just a few months later.
Janice married her high school sweetheart, Dick, and together they raised four wonderful children: Krista Peres, Kim Hutchens (Gary), Kyle Peres (Debbie), and Kirby Peres (Robyn). Over the years the couple lived in Hawaii, Texas, Arkansas and New Mexico. They enjoyed 7 years of RVing around the country.
Dick was born to Joseph and Mary Jane Peres on February 5, 1932, at home in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He joined the US Navy immediately after High School and served on the USS Gunston Hall during the Korean War. Later, he received his bachelor's degree from Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas, taking advantage of the GI Bill. He credits all his achievements to Janice for her endless love and support in raising their four children while working full time. He described her as "the other half of his heart and his reason for living". Dick loved coaching Little League Baseball, backpacking with the boys, and their time of RVing together after retirement. He also hopes there will be clarinets in heaven because he couldn't take his with him (and he dearly loved playing his favorite genre of music, traditional jazz).
They are survived by their four children, 7 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. They will be dearly missed. Donations may be made to Faith Lutheran Church or Animal Humane.
There will be a Celebration of Life on Saturday November 16, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church located at 10000 Spain Rd NE, Albuquerque, NM.
