H. Gene Jones 

April 29, 1941 - October 28, 2023 

Graveside services for H. Gene Jones, 82, of Meggett, South Carolina, will be held Thursday, November 2, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Southland Memorial Gardens.

He was born April 29, 1941 in Tyler, Texas, to Captain Jesse May Jones and Nadia Greene Jones Slay. He attended John Tyler High School and after graduation, he joined the Army. In the Army, he was in the 288th Signal Corps. He went on to attend Texas A&M University and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical & Mechanical Engineering in 1968.

Gene is preceded in death by his parents, Captain Jesse May Jones and Nadia Green Jones Slay; his brother, Jesse James Jones of Tyler, Texas; his son, Charles Alan (Tyler) Jones of Lexington, SC, and stepson, Lofton Ronald Lemox, Jr., of Pelion, SC.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Sue Jones; his daughters, Michele Jones Lee and her husband Scott Lee of Walker, LA; Rebecca Lemox and Tracy Lemox of Columbia, SC; his grandchildren, Reagan Lee of Aiken, SC, Joshua Lee of Walker, LA, Danielle Lemox, Trey Lemox, Alexis Creech, Patrick Byroads, Shelby Crawford, and Christian Byroads, all of Columbia, SC, and his many great-grandchildren.
