Robert G. "Bob" Skidmore
December 31, 1928 - January 5, 2024
Bob was born and raised in Paris, Texas, where he met and fell in love with his wife Jodie. After Bob graduated from Texas A&M University, they were married on April 1, 1950.
Their first child, Janet, was born on the Army base in Fort Knox, KY, shortly before Bob was deployed to Korea. He served with distinction as a Second Lieutenant in the Armored Cavalry, earning a Purple Heart before returning to Paris.
The happy couple welcomed their second child, Brad, in 1954. They moved to Austin, where Bob earned his Juris Doctorate from Texas University. The family arrived in 1959 in Brownwood, Texas, where they had their third child, Mitchell. With the family complete, they finally arrived in 1963 in Sulphur Springs, where they remained.
While Bob began his law practice, Jodie continued her education, eventually receiving a Master of Fine Arts from East Texas State University. Bob worked in mineral law, while Jodie raised the family and taught. When the children were grown, they were able to indulge in their shared passion, traveling all over the United States, through Europe and even Iceland. Bob and Jodie were heavily involved in their community. They had a wide circle of beloved friends, with whom they traveled or simply gathered to play bridge.
Though predeceased by Brad in 2021 and Mitchell in 2022, they are survived by their daughter, Janet Skidmore Cason, and her children, Zachary Cason & wife Gwendolyn Rice, and Alex Paratore & husband Bert; and their great-grandchildren, Jackson and Taylor Anne Paratore.
