Gilbert Wayne Gatlin 

January 1, 1934 - November 3, 2024 

Gilbert Gatlin, 90, of Fairfield, Texas passed on Sunday morning, November 3, 2024.

Gilbert was born January 1, 1934 in Cleveland, Tennessee to Jacob Seamon and Ruth Crutchfield Gatlin and grew up in Grandview, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and his sister.

He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years Ann Gatlin of Fairfield, his brother Earl Gatlin and wife Marie of Grandview, his son Wayne Gatlin and wife Lori of Tenaha, his daughter D’Ann Sellers and husband Greg of Ennis and daughter Amy Gatlin of Fairfield, his grandchildren, Tyler Heard and Haley Rohland of Gun Barrel City and Amy Weaver and husband Garrett of Chatfield, three great grandchildren, Jameson and Emmery Heard, and Hoytt Weaver. He is also survived by many bonus grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Gilbert was a 1961 graduate of Texas A&M University, a professor at Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas and Navarro College and worked at TU Electric in Fairfield. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Fairfield and Fairfield Lions Club. His passions were God, his family, teaching and serving his community.

Funeral service has been set for Saturday, November 9, 2024 beginning at 10:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Fairfield, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Texas Lions Camp, Kerrville, Texas, First United Methodist Church of Fairfield and/or Fairfield Nursing and Rehabilitation.

We would like to thank the Fairfield Nursing and Rehabilitation staff for their love and care of our Daddy.
