Vincent Ladd Simmons, 54, of Tivoli, Texas, quietly left this world on October 21, 2023 after a courageous, 17-year battle with brain cancer. Vince was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on October 14, 1969 to Charles and Lucy Simmons. He committed his life to Christ at the age of 10. Vince's resilience, determination, faith, and joy inspired many who supported him. He cherished his relationships and demonstrated his love for others with countless acts of kindness. He was an avid outdoorsman, always up for an adventure, and kept a full social calendar.
Vince was the 1988 Valedictorian of Austwell-Tivoli High School and a 1993 graduate of Texas A&M University. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Tivoli and the Refugio County Area Go Texan Committee.
In addition to his parents, Vince is survived by his wife, Leslie; his daughters, Megan Simmons of Houston; McKenzi Simmons of Houston, and Morgan Simmons of Victoria. His sister, Melissa (Pinky) Gonzales of Refugio; a brother, Vance (Jessica) Simmons of Bozeman, Montana; and grandchildren Jordyn, Olivia, Alice, and Greyson. Other survivors include nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins, and a vast number of friends from all walks of life. A celebration of life will take place at First Baptist Church, Refugio at 10 AM on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 with the Reverend T. Wayne Price officiating. Honoring Vince as pallbearers are Jaime Esparza, Kelly Bernal, Pinky Gonzales, Willie Starns, Mikey Rodriguez, Mark Foester, Sam Bernal, and Andrew Tatton. Honorary pallbearers are Darren Kelso and Danny Kelso.
