Catherine Buelo Sharbeno, a cherished resident of Copperas Cove, Texas, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Born on October 2, 1972, to Jimmy and Ellen Pichelmayer, Catherine’s journey through life was marked by love, dedication, and a spirit of service.
Catherine's love story began when she met her husband, James Maurice Sharbeno, during their training as medics in the U.S. Army. They were united in marriage on May 30, 1992, and together they built a beautiful family, which included two children and later two treasured grandchildren who were the light of her life.
An inspiring educator, Catherine devoted her career to teaching in the Copperas Cove Independent School District (CCISD) from 2007 until her passing. With a Master’s Degree in Education from Texas A&M University, she dedicated herself to teaching math and history at both Copperas Cove Junior High and Martin Walker Elementary. Her passion for education extended to nurturing future generations, making a profound impact on the lives of her students.
Outside the classroom, Catherine found joy in travel and cooking, known for planning memorable vacations and hosting holiday meals for family and friends. She took pride in creating beautiful experiences for those she loved.
Catherine was also deeply committed to her community, volunteering with numerous local organizations including Keeping Copperas Cove Beautiful, Junior Historians, The Pride of Cove Band and Guard Boosters, Pink Warrior Angels, and Girl Scouts. Her commitment to volunteerism reflected her belief in making a positive difference, and she encouraged others to do the same.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Maurice; her daughter Caitlin and grandson Joseph Sharbeno-Bockting; her son Joshua, his wife Danielle, and their daughter Mara; her parents, Jimmy and Ellen; her brother Dale Pichelmayer and his son Alexander; and a host of family members and friends who will forever cherish her memory.
In honor of Catherine’s legacy, the family invites those wishing to express their condolences to engage in volunteer work with local organizations or CCISD, celebrating her commitment to service and community. Catherine Buelo Sharbeno was a remarkable and irreplaceable individual whose spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
