James "Bos" Boswell '59 November 16, 2024 3:50 PM updated: November 16, 2024 3:55 PM

James C. Boswell, DVM

November 27, 1933 - September 28, 2023

Dr. James C. Boswell, 89, of Beaumont, died September 28, 2023. He was born on November 27, 1933, to Dorothy Haney Boswell and George Albert Boswell, in Maypearl, Texas, and was a United States Air Force veteran. Dr. Boswell retired as a veterinarian.

James (Jim) moved to Port Arthur in elementary school and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School. After graduation, he started college at Lamar State College going to night school. After one year Jim transferred to his beloved Texas A&M University where he graduated with his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1959 making him the first college graduate in his family.

During college he was drafted twice but was given a deferment until his college graduation. Jim entered the United States Air Force with the rank of Lieutenant. He was stationed at Osan Air Force Base in Korea where he served as the base veterinarian. Jim was the biochemical warfare officer, which was highly classified. After coming back to the states, he was stationed at Chanute Air Force Base in Champaign County, Illinois, until his two years of active service were over. Jim remained in the reserves until August 1972.

He then came to Beaumont to begin his veterinarian practice and loved all creatures large and small. Jim soon met Tiggie, the love of his life, at Wednesday night church service. As fate would have it, Tiggie was leaving the next day for Abilene Christian University. They would reconnect the summer of 1962 and were married on April 12, 1963. They were blessed with sixty wonderful years of marriage, three children, three grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

Jim had a true servant heart. He was very involved with his church serving as a Joy Bus Director, Deacon, Elder, and heading up the Good Sam’s Program. Jim loved his God, his wife, his children, and his family.

Survivors include his wife, Charloise “Tiggie” Boswell; children, Kristy Boswell of Beaumont; Stacy Peden and her husband, Robert, of Lumberton; and James Cody Boswell of Beaumont; grandchildren, Shelby Evans of Beaumont; Morgan Judice and her husband, Blake, of Lumberton; and Madison Kane and her husband, Brady, of Kountze; great-grandchildren, Sofia, Luca, Bella, and Giana Judice and Bryce and Nico Kane; sister, Marjory Davis of Tenaha; three nephews; and numerous friends, colleagues, brothers and sisters in Christ, and extended family through the years.
