Roll Call Tribute

Ed Schwille Sr. '56 November 18, 2024 1:28 PM updated: November 18, 2024 1:35 PM

Edward Martin Schwille, Sr.

November 12, 1934 - July 6, 2024

Ed or sometimes called "Mr. Ed", passed away on July 6, 2024. He was born November 12, 1934, in Oak Cliff, Dallas County and was the son of Martin Bartram Schwille and Sue Kirby Schwille.

He is survived by his wife Ruth and children, Ed M. Jr. (Carla) of Conroe, Leslie L. Moravic (John) of Arlington, Susan E. Lowe of Wichita Falls, Marty W. Byouk (Althea) of Lavon, Libby J. Fabian of Flanders, NJ and Kristina D. Dean (Alvin) of Tyler. He is also survived by his sister Marsue Williams (Bill) of Rowlett. Ed is survived and blessed by 16 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Ed, Texas A&M University Class of '56, received his Bachelor of Science degree in Wildlife Management with a minor in Education. He spent 30 years having an impact on soils, plants, small watersheds, and fish-wildlife habitat conservation with the USDA — SCS (NRCS) as a biologist. Ed, notably, was a State Biologist in Colorado and was the National Poultry Water Quality Consortium manager, headquartered in Tennessee. Upon retirement from federal service, he continued working with farmers, ranchers and individuals as a District Technician for 25 years with Limestone-Falls Soil and Water Conservation District in Groesbeck, Texas.

Mr. Ed had always dreamed of living on a lake and upon retirement, moved his family to Lake Limestone. Being a people person, in his time, he had belonged to four Volunteer Fire Departments, was active with the SCS-NRCS Retirees Association, and enjoyed helping local food pantries and "jawing" with neighbors. Ed will be missed by his family and friends.

The family would like to thank the Community Healthcare Hospice Team for their kind and compassionate care during Ed's final days.
