Lon Don Johnston 

January 9, 1936 - October 26, 2024 

Lon Don Johnston, 88, of Spanish Fort, AL, passed away on Saturday, October 26, 2024.

Born in Conroe, Texas, Lon attended high school in Texas at San Marcos Baptist Academy where he met his future wife. He later graduated from Texas A&M University with BBA and MBA Degrees. Also, he commissioned a regular army officer as a distinguished military student. He served in the U. S. Military as a regular army officer for three years with the 82nd Airborne Division, then worked for and retired after 32 years from BP Oil as a retail executive. He was a Master Mason for over 60 years.

Lon was active in retirement serving the City of Daphne, Alabama, in volunteer capacities and on key boards including Friends of the Daphne Library, Olde Towne Daphne Association, Daphne Library Foundation, Daphne Utilities, and others. He also served one term as a Daphne Councilman.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Janet Johnston.

He is survived by his daughter Renee (Don) Andrews of Georgetown, TX; brother, Joe Johnston of Gladewater, TX; his double cousin, Clayton Carl Johnston of Crawford, TX, and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at the chapel of Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home, Daphne, AL, on Friday, November 1, 2024, at 11:00 am. The family will receive friends one hour before service time. Interment will follow in Jubilee Memorial Gardens, Daphne.
