Merle Clayton Borden
June 9, 1926 - September 26, 2024
Merle Clayton Borden, 98, of Spartanburg, SC died Thursday, September 26, 2024. Born June 9, 1926 in Tampa FL, Merle was the son of the late Lemuel Harvey Borden, Sr. and Lottie Tatum Borden. Merle was married to the late Helen D. Borden.
Merle earned a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Texas A & M University and was a member of Central United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his daughters, Karen Thimmel, (Gary Moore) of Sun Prairie, WI and Laura (Bob) Krug, of Wedowee, AL as well as stepchildren, Kathryn Stefan of Fernandina Beach FL and Kyle (Pamela) Stefan of Mt. Pleasant, SC. Merle is also survived by 2 grandchildren, along with the 4 step grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren as well as 1 step great grandchild.
A private graveside service will be held At Greenlawn Cemetery in Spartanburg, SC.
