Albert Edwin Strey, Jr. 

March 18, 1934 - August 20, 2024 

Albert Edwin Strey, Jr. died peacefully at home on August 20, 2024.

Al was born in Beaumont, Texas on March 18, 1934 to Albert Edwin Strey, Sr. and Lena Harding Strey. He spent his early years in San Antonio, Texas. He attended Brackenridge High School. It was in San Antonio that he met Maureen Merz. They married in 1959 and moved to College Station, Texas where Al attended Texas A & M University and graduated in 1962.

Al worked for the USDA as a supervisor meat grader for 30 years. He then worked at Eastmoreland Grocery and Charbonneau Grocery as a butcher. Al and Maureen raised two children. Al loved God, his wife, his family, his friends and his church community. Hunting, fishing, gardening and barbecuing brought him joy.

Al is survived by his wife of 64 years, Maureen; his children, Albert (Debbie McDougal) of Damascus, Ore., daughter Suzy (David) Parsons of Portland, Ore. Grandchildren Cameron (Katie) Strey, Jonathan Parsons, Grant Parsons, and Amelia Parsons. He is predeceased by his brother Murray Strey (January 27, 1995).
