Raymond Louis "Ray" Doucet, LTC USA (Ret)
September 21, 1936 - November 24, 2024
“Ray” Doucet, a proud Aggie from Texas A&M’s Class of 1959, passed away peacefully on November 24, 2024. Born on September 21, 1936, to Louis Voris Doucet and Rosa Mae Lejeune, Ray played high school football under famous coach “Bum” Phillips and was awarded a full scholarship to Texas A&M, where he played for the legendary coach Paul “Bear” Bryant.
Ray was also a decorated Vietnam Veteran Army officer, who served his country with distinction, earning a Bronze Star. During his second tour in Germany, he had the privilege of serving under the esteemed General George Patton Jr. and after a total of 20 honorable years, he retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1980 at Fort Hood, Texas. In his retirement, Ray indulged in his passion for golf, often regaling others with tales of his exceptional skills and exploits, both on and off the course, all delivered with his trademark dry humor and sly smile.
Ray, who was preceded in death by his beloved wife Jo Evelyn in 2004 and his brother Philton in 2022, is survived by his four other siblings, Robert, David, Marie, and Joanne, and his three sons, Rodney, Mark, and Keith. Together, they will honor Ray’s legacy of strength, dedication, and love by passing it down to their children and grandchildren.
He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
Graveside service will be Saturday, December 7, 2024 at the Aggie Field of Honor.
