September 18, 1954 - November 17, 2024
Dennis Martin Evans, 70, of Baytown, Texas, passed away peacefully on November 17, 2024. Born on September 18, 1954, in San Antonio, Texas, Dennis was the beloved son of Ralph W. Evans and Charlotte Wilhelmina Evans, who preceded him in death.
Dennis was a loving husband to Kathy Evans and a devoted father to his two children, Matthew Evans and Christy Collins, and stepfather to Stephanie Harrison, who preceded him in death, and Heather Byford Moseman.
He was a proud grandfather to Eliana Collins, Blake Evans, and two step-grandchildren. Dennis is also survived by his four siblings: Barbara Hickok, Jeanette Wyland, Mary Ann Evans, and Cynthia Scudder, as well as many other family members and friends who cherished him deeply.
Dennis graduated from Texas A&M University in 1976 with a Bachelor of Science degree, launching a successful career in the HVAC and petrochemical industries. He began his career in Dallas before moving to Humble, Texas, to work as a subcontractor for Exxon. Eventually, he relocated to Baytown, where he became an employee at ExxonMobil’s Mont Belvieu Plastics Plant. Dennis was instrumental in creating the software that operated the company’s plastic refining equipment and later played a critical role in ensuring Y2K compliance. His unwavering dedication and work ethic left an indelible mark on his colleagues and the company.
Outside of work, Dennis found joy on the water, spending countless hours boating and jet skiing with his son Matt along Cedar Bayou. He also enjoyed watching history documentaries and listening to classic rock from the 1960s to the 1980s, passions that reflected his love of learning and timeless spirit.
Dennis will be remembered for his remarkable intelligence, devotion to his family, and the kindness he showed to all who knew him. His legacy of hard work, humor, and love will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 10-11 am, Friday, December 6, 2024, at Navarre Funeral Home, located at 2444 Rollingbrook Drive, Baytown, Texas, 77521, with the memorial service to follow at 11 am.
