Michael Glen "Mike" Tatsch 

May 14, 1951 - October 14, 2024 

Michael Tatsch, 73, of Scotch Plains, NJ, died peacefully at home in his sleep on October 14th, 2024.

He was born in San Antonio, Texas in 1951 to Bertram and Elsie Tatsch. He attended Churchill High School and was a drummer in a few different bands. Michael entered into the Mechanical Engineering Program at Texas A&M University, where he married Noel Smith, was in the Pi Tau Sigma fraternity, and graduated 2nd in his Engineering class. Michael installed and programmed the first computer system at the Texas A&M Memorial Student Center.

He received his Masters Degree from East Texas A&M.

Throughout his career, Michael was always on the rise. He was the President of Teledyne Merla in Venezuela, where he and his family lived for over 3 years. Upon returning to the US, he then accepted the same position at Teledyne Adams in New Jersey. His final corporate job was President/CEO of Chromium Corporation in Addison, Texas.

Michael moved back to New Jersey in 2002, when he married Kathleen Holmes. In 2008, they turned their Scotch Plains home (built in 1910) into the 1st Bed and Breakfast in their town (1910 House Bed and Breakfast). Michael was also a huge supporter and investor in his son’s BBQ Sauce business.

He loved to travel. In his later years, most of his travels were to Disney World and short trips into Pennsylvania. He loved life and loved to laugh. Family was everything.

Michael was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen Holmes, and is survived by his only child (Christian Tatsch), Daughter-In-Law (Jennifer Tatsch), Granddaughter (Madison Tatsch), Granddaughter-In-Law (Taylor Burk), the mother of his child (Noel Smith), and his sister (Janet Rodemeyer).

Services will be held at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover, NJ on Monday, October 21st, 2024.
