Mark Kevin Shamblin

June 5, 1951 - October 20, 2024

Mark Kevin Shamblin, beloved husband, father, brother, and friend passed away on Sunday, October 20, 2024, at the age of 73. He was born on June 5, 1951, in Dallas, Texas to Geraldine Rawson and Paul Otis Shamblin. Mark is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Lee Ann Robinson Shamblin, two daughters, Amy Annice Petri and husband, Colt, of Blanco, and Lauren Ashley Foster, and husband, Jake, of Waxahachie. Mark's brother, Paul Richard Shamblin, resides in Bryan with his wife, Linda Lee Bedford Shamblin.

Mark graduated from South Oak Cliff High School in Dallas in 1969 where he made lifelong friends. Mark and Lee Ann were married on January 8, 1972, at Brandon Avenue United Methodist Church in Dallas, and their first home was in College Station where Mark would graduate as a proud Texas Aggie from Texas A&M University, Class of 1973, with a degree in Construction Science. He was blessed to have a job before he graduated with Robert E. McKee building the Dallas City Hall, a unique landmark he would always remember. Mark mentored many young men who followed his path in commercial construction, and he has made lasting friends through his business connections.

A great blessing in his life was his membership at Grace Temple Baptist Church in Dallas and Trinity Oaks Baptist Church in Red Oak. He was also a current member of Park Meadows Baptist Church in Waxahachie, where he attended with many dear friends.

Mark, with the help of his Uncle Sam Shamblin, built the family home in Red Oak, where the family has resided since 1985. Beyond his professional endeavors, Mark was a man of many interests and talents. His hobbies included building koi ponds, gardening, propagating plants in the greenhouses he built, waterskiing, snow skiing, and traveling. Throughout his life, he enjoyed going to the drag races, listening to a wide variety of music, attending Texas A&M football and baseball games, and driving his boat as fast as he could. He also enjoyed grilling and smoking meat and especially enjoyed the monthly Men's Breakfast at Park Meadows, where he loved so many wonderful friends.

Mark was a great Dad and supportive and loving husband. Although he loved Texas A&M, he also loved Dallas Baptist University, and he supported everything about the DBU Patriots. The impact Mark made on the lives of those who knew him will never be forgotten. His character, wisdom, and his willingness to provide a helping hand will be remembered.

Mark passed away peacefully on Sunday, at home, as he was getting ready for church, with Lee Ann at his side.
