Robert Harrison "Robin" Moore, Sr. Lt.Col. USAF (Ret)
April 3, 1939 - November 14, 2024
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Robert “Robin” Harrison Moore, a respected real estate professional, veteran, and community leader, who passed away on November 14, 2024, in San Antonio, Texas at the age of 85.
He was born on April 3, 1939, in Harlingen, Texas, to Ina Mae and Robert Thomas Moore. Robin was a proud graduate of Harlingen High School, where he earned his diploma in 1957. His academic journey continued at Texas A&M University, where he graduated in 1961 with a degree in Business Administration, majoring in Marketing. Upon graduation, he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army, where he served two years of active duty. After completing his Army service, he joined the U.S. Air Force, where he went on to have a long and successful military career. He retired with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, a position that reflected his leadership, dedication, and commitment to serving his country.
In 1965, Robin returned to Harlingen to join his father in the family real estate and appraisal business. Over the years, he became an esteemed figure in the industry, acquiring numerous credentials and affiliations that underscored his expertise and leadership. In 1972, he received the prestigious RM and MAI designations from the American Institute of Real Estate Appraisers and the SRPA designation from the Society of Real Estate Appraisers. His leadership within these professional organizations was equally notable. He served as President of both the Rio Grande Valley Chapter and the South Texas Chapter of the Appraisal Institute, holding these positions with distinction on multiple occasions.
A lifelong advocate for high standards in the real estate and appraisal fields, Robin contributed to the industry in many roles, including serving as District Vice Governor of the Society of Real Estate Appraisers for two years and chairing the professional Standards Committee of the Harlingen Board of Realtors for 12 consecutive years. He also spent four years on the national Member and Chapter Services Committee of the Appraisal Institute.
Robin was deeply involved in his local community. He was a long-time member of the Harlingen Rotary Club and served on the Advisory Boards of both the American Red Cross and the Salvation Army. His commitment to public service was further demonstrated through his leadership as Chairman of the Harlingen Planning and Zoning Commission.
In 1970, Robin became a principal in the family’s real estate and appraisal business and later became senior partner after his father's retirement in 1976. Under his leadership, the business flourished, and Robin expanded his interests, owning a stake in three Century 21 franchises in the Rio Grande Valley. He sold his real estate interests in 1986 and shifted focus to full-time appraisal work.
In 1995, he sold his appraisal business and moved to Tucson, Arizona, where he worked as an appraiser for a local firm before relocating to Jackson, Mississippi, in 1996. There, he worked with Don Jorgenson, MAI, before returning to Texas in 2000, where he continued his career as a senior appraiser and review appraiser in various roles. Notably, he served as Chief Appraiser for Laredo National Bank from 2003 to 2006. Later, he founded Appraisal Review Compliance, a firm specializing in appraisal review and federal compliance consulting and training for banks.
Robin’s legacy is defined by his expertise, professionalism, and integrity. He was a mentor to countless individuals in the real estate and appraisal industry and was admired for his dedication to continuous learning and improving the standards of his profession.
He is preceded in death by his parents. Robin is survived by his wife, Diane T. Moore; son, Robert Harrison Moore, Jr.; daughter in law, Norma Moore; grandchildren, Sherilynne Moore and Robert Harrison Moore, III.
