Walter Jay Wells

February 11, 1956 - December 5, 2024

Walter Jay Wells, born on February 11, 1956, in Houston, Texas, to Walter Joel and Marie (Schlesinger) Wells, passed away peacefully on December 5, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was 68 years old.

Walter graduated from Texas A&M University in 1978 with a degree in Industrial Distribution, where he was a proud member of the Corps of Cadets. It was at Texas A&M, on a night at Sparky’s dance hall in College Station, that he met his future wife, Catherine. The two were married on April 12, 1980, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, beginning a partnership that would last a lifetime. Together, they were blessed with two daughters, Lauren and Lindsey, who brought him immense joy and pride. In Walter’s professional career he opened his own motor distribution company in 1991 specializing in those for the oil and gas industry. During this time, he met many colleagues that built lasting relationships and a profitable business until its closing in 2020.

Walter had a passion for fishing, drawing, and architectural design, and was known for his attention to detail. He also enjoyed golfing, embarking on cruises, and was a man who appreciated the finer things in life. His meticulous nature and dedication to his family and work will be fondly remembered.

He is survived by his loving wife of forty-four years, Catherine; daughters, Lauren (Michael) Warwick and Lindsey Pooley; grandchildren Riley Cooper Warwick, Ethan Daniel Warwick, James Roark Pooley, and Noah Thomas Pooley; brother Earl Joseph Wells; sister Cynthia Ann Wells, and many other beloved family members and friends. Walter is preceded in death by his parents, Walter Joel and Marie Wells; brother Alvin Charles Wells, and sister Carolyn Jean Wells.

Walter will be dearly missed by all who knew him, and his memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
