H. Powell "Powell" Campbell '66 December 12, 2024 2:46 PM updated: December 12, 2024 2:50 PM

H. Powell Campbell

May 19, 1934 - November 8, 2024

Powell Campbell passed away into the loving arms of the Lord at the age of 90 on November 8, 2024, from complications of Alzheimer’s disease. Powell is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Margo Melton Campbell; his children, Melton Campbell and wife Gloria of Burbank, Ohio and Casey Campbell of Montgomery, Texas; and loving friends, Bill and Shirley Hawkins. Powell was preceded in death by his parents Hiram and Ruby Campbell, and his sister Patsy Robertson.

Powell proudly served his country in the U.S. Army in Vietnam. Upon his discharge, he moved to Odessa, Texas where he met and married the love of his life, Margo, on July 4, 1961. He graduated from Texas A&M University with a degree in Petroleum Engineering in the class of 1965. His lengthy career resulted in his family moving to Louisiana, Oklahoma, and back home to Texas. After working for Tenneco, Williams Exploration, and Swift Energy, he retired from Newfield Exploration in Houston, Texas. He and Margo then moved to April Sound in Montgomery, Texas where he enjoyed golf, being a member of the April Sound Civic Association, and April Sound Men’s Finance Club.

He will be remembered by family and friends for his faith in Jesus, kindness, generosity, and his passionate love for the Texas A&M Aggies. He always liked to say his favorite football team was the Texas Aggie’s and any team that beats t.u.

Upon his request, there will be no funeral. The family will have a private family burial at a later date in College Station, Texas.

Donations in his honor are to be made to Alzheimer’s Association or Devotion Hospice of Conroe.

The family wants to give special thanks to Megan, Glenda, and all of the kind caregivers at Worthington Manor, and Tyler with Devotion Hospice.
