Roll Call Tribute

Leonard Leon Quiram 

June 14, 1936 - October 4, 2024 

Leonard was born the 8th child of eight children to Helmut G. Quiram, Sr. and Thusnelda Neugebauer Quiram in Waco, TX. on June 14, 1936 and was baptized at St. Mark Lutheran Church, Waco, TX. He attended St. Mark Lutheran Elementary, South Waco Junior High and Waco High Schools. After his freshman year at Texas A&M, he and three friends joined the U.S. Air Force and subsequently received training in San Antonio.

Later after his service tour, he went to work for FAA in Dallas. He continued his education by attending night classes and finished with the last year on campus at Texas A&M receiving his degree in 1967. After graduating from Texas A&M, he went to work for the U.S. Office of Management and Budget in Washington, D.C. retiring in 1983. While working he received his MBA from George Washington University. Leonard later retired again in 1989 from Martin Marietta.

Leonard and Barbara met in March 1978 while on a skiing trip to Jackson Hole, WY. This was the beginning of a best friend & teamwork relationship. They were married on July 1, 1983. They recently celebrated their 41st wedding anniversary. People often saw the devoted love between Leonard and Barbara.

Leonard was preceded in death by his parents, his father-in-law Kenneth R. Ovenden sisters: Caroline Quiram, Anna Fitch and husband Don R. Fitch, Sophie Crowley and husband, Vince C. Crowley, Theresa Akard Dum and husbands, Guy Akard and John Dum, Ruby Wells and husband Charles F. Wells, Jr.; brother Helmut G. Quiram, Jr., and wife Jeanne, also, nieces Cara Lynn Fitch, Eileen Crowley Chordas; nephews Karl Quiram, Edwin Rush Wells,

Leonard is survived by his wife, Barbara; his mother-in-law, Rosalie Ovenden of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; sister, Helen R. Quiram of Waco, as well as brothers-in-law Geoffrey B. Ovenden and wife Lisa Of Dayton Ohio and Mark R. Ovenden of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Also surviving Leonard are 5 nieces and nephews, numerous great nieces and nephews, and many friends.

Services for Leonard include Visitation October 21 from 3-5pm Hillier Funeral Home 29th St. Bryan Texas. Church Services October 22 at 11am Holy Cross Lutheran Church at 1590 Sebesta Rd. College Station Texas, followed by burial in Aggie Field of Honor.
