Marie M. Walbridge 

February 15, 1957 - October 9, 2024 

Marie M. Walbridge, 67, of S. Weymouth, MA passed away on October 9, 2024, of ovarian cancer after five and a half years of illness, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Quincy, MA, to the late Herbert E. and the late N. Kathleen [Crehan] Walbridge. Marie leaves her brother, M. Joseph Walbridge (Gail) of Hanson, her sister, Kathleen DeSchamp (the late David) of Brownsville, VT, and her brother, Roy Walbridge of Kissimmee, FL, as well as her brother, the late Richard Walbridge (Dorothy) of Scituate, and her sister, the late Judith Stempleski (Patrick) of Norwell. Marie is survived by fourteen nieces and nephews, nineteen great nieces and nephews, and one great-great nephew. She leaves many loving friends.

Marie graduated cum laude with a degree in psychology from St. Michael’s College in VT and completed a Master’s degree in clinical psychology from Texas A&M University and her Ph.D. in counseling psychology from State University at Albany. She interned at the Brockton/West Roxbury VA Medical Center. She worked for several years for Boston University School of Medicine at the Memory Disorders Research Center at the Boston VA. Marie was also a research psychologist at the Brockton VA on a Gulf War grant. She was employed for several years at Braintree Rehabilitation Hospital as a clinical neuropsychologist assessing adults with a wide variety of neuropsychological and psychological disorders. During this time, she also worked with adults with acquired brain injury in cognition rehabilitation programs. For twenty-two years Marie was a partner of LifeDimensions Neuropsychological Services, Inc. in Braintree where her practice included neuropsychological evaluation of late adolescents and adults with a variety of learning disorders and physical, psychological and neurological disorders. She was a member of numerous organizations associated with neuropsychology including the American Psychological Association, Massachusetts Psychological Association, International Neuropsychological Society, National Academy of Neuropsychology, and Massachusetts Neuropsychological Society.

Marie lived a life of faith that she relied on not only through her years of sickness but in her daily life as well, receiving the Eucharist and praying daily with her oldest brother. She had a true love for learning throughout her life that included books and extensive travel. She was rarely seen without a book in her hands or many on every table and packed in her bookcases. She belonged to a local book group that brought her much joy and new and welcome friendships. Marie was forever grateful for her devoted family which included her in every event, many, many stays in Vermont where she enjoyed the serenity of the countryside, the quiet where she could listen to the birds singing, walking and just hanging out with her Vermont family. She was often with her MA family at many birthdays, holidays anytime/anywhere. Marie was blessed with a group of life-long friends that celebrated everything and gave Marie much support and love which grew over the many years. They saw to it that her bucket list was accomplished. Her travels brought her to much of the USA, and she relished her trips to the Hawaiian islands. She traveled to Ireland, Italy, England, France, Bali and particularly loved the Caribbean islands both cruising and relaxing at fabulous resorts, most recently vacationing multiple times in Punta Cana – a favorite. She often recalled a trip to Cape Breton Island visiting her grandmother’s homestead.

Marie and her family were most grateful for her care at Dana Farber Cancer Center and Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

Family and friends are invited to a Funeral Mass at St. Clare of Church in Braintree, MA, on Thursday, October 17, at 10:00 AM, followed by a celebration of Marie’s life/luncheon at the Weathervane Golf Club in Weymouth, MA.
