Robert Henry Pine, Jr.
January 30, 1933 - October 10, 2024
Robert Henry Pine, Jr. died peacefully at home in Hot Springs, Ark., on October 10, 2024. He was born on January 30, 1933, in Los Angeles, Calif., to Robert Henry Pine and Mary Jo Scranton Pine. Bob grew up in Arizona and Texas. He spent time during World War II in the Houston area before his family settled in Midland, Texas where he graduated from Midland High School. After attending Texas A&M University, he enlisted in the United States Army and served his country during the Korean War. After the war, Bob returned to Midland where he met Sue Patterson, a young lady from Clarksville, Ark., who was employed as a program director at the local YMCA. The two became inseparable, were married on August 15, 1959, and moved to Little Rock, Ark., in 1961. There, they raised their son, Patt, and enjoyed gathering with family and friends. While a reluctant Texas transplant at first, with his wife's steady influence he eventually enthusiastically became a true fan of the Arkansas Razorbacks. Bob began his career working for the Boy Scouts of America, and eventually retired as an employee for the State of Arkansas in 2002. Bob and Sue then moved to Hot Springs and enjoyed their retirement years visiting with family and friends, and of course calling those HOGS.
Bob is predeceased by his wife of more than 62 years, Sue Pine; his parents; brother Glenn Pine; sister-in-law Alice Ann Harris; and a great niece, Katherine Wolfe. Bob is survived by his son, Robert Patterson Pine and son-in-law, Andrew Brunson, brothers David Pine and Larry Pine, and brother-in-law Eugene Harris, along with nephews, nieces, and cousins from both sides of the family that he loved very much.
Bob was a devoted and supportive husband and father. He had a fun, often wicked sense of humor which he maintained through his final days. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
