Jennifer Hilliard '88 December 17, 2024 4:57 PM updated: December 17, 2024 5:04 PM

Jennifer Rae (Vaughan) Hilliard

March 28, 1966 - October 28, 2023

Jennifer Rae Hilliard was the fifth child of John and Betty Jane Vaughan, sister to Debbie, Charlotte, Christine, and Michael, born in Corpus Christi, Texas on March 28, 1966. A fiercely independent Texas girl, with fast feet (running a record 4 minute high school mile) and an early natural wanderlust in her soul graduating from Banquette High School at 16 years old.

While studying architecture at Texas A&M College Station she worked as a campus bus driver before making her way to Europe to continue her studies. After earning her masters in architecture she worked as an architect for local firm Cotton and Landrith. She found her passion at the drawing board, with a natural aptitude and eye for classic and modern design, she brought her unique vision to each project throughout her successful career.

Always moving, with endless energy, you could find her on the tennis court, running down Ocean Drive, winning her age division of Beach to Bay, the local Turkey Trot, and most other races she entered. More a night owl than a morning person, she hit her stride in the kitchen in the late evening showing her culinary forte in making late-night dinners for her hungry kiddos. She had a brilliant and curious mind which served her well as treasurer of her investment club where she showed her financial acuity in each meeting. She spent the last ten years of her life with her love, Thomas Daley, living a beautiful life in a beautiful home on the water. They made their impact on the community together and built beautiful memories as they biked through France and Croatia, hiked Machu Pichu, shared salmon fishing with the brown bears in Alaska, and constantly filled their lives with love and adventure.

She is survived by her father John, her sisters Charlotte and Christine, her brother Michael, her daughter Emily, her son Alex, her grand-daughter Molly, her grand-son Finnegan, and her newest grand-daughter Briar, due in April.

Pall Bearers: Rafael Ordez, Parker Webb, Frasier Thomas, Patrick Whitner, Buck Morgan, Andrew Maingot.
