Ronda Leann (Hancock) Arnett
April 16, 1966 - September 23, 2024
Ronda Arnett passed away on September 23, 2024, after a long battle with cancer.
Ronda was born in St. Joseph’s Hospital in Houston, TX to John and LaNell Hancock on April 16, 1966. After graduating as a salutatorian from Columbus High School in Columbus, TX in 1984, she attended and graduated from Texas A&M University in 1988. She was employed with the USDA for 33 years and acquired many accomplishments.
Ronda devoted her 33-year career working for the United States Department of Agriculture’s Farm Service Agency, spending countless hours looking out for FSA’s employees and the Texas farmers and ranchers they serve. After serving as County Executive Director in Refugio County, she was promoted to Agriculture Program Specialist in the Texas FSA State Office in College Station. In 2010, Ronda accepted the position of Administrative Officer for Texas FSA where she rounded out her career providing valuable guidance and oversight to FSA employees across the state. She served many years as the President of the AFGE employee union and received numerous state and national awards recognizing her for her dedicated service to U.S. agriculture. Ronda retired in 2023, moving to Hill Top Lakes, Texas where she and Pete enjoyed each day together in their own little piece of heaven in the country.
She was rebaptized at The Woodlands church on June 9, 2012.
She loved and had many horses, but two in particular, an Arabian cross, and an Arabian were her most memorable. In high school, she was active in FFA, both showing livestock and photography. She was very creative and crocheting, quilting and gardening were a few hobbies she enjoyed.
She served as leader of the job support ministry at The Woodlands Church for more than 10 years, and she celebrated 346 job landings, leading the seekers through a Christ-centered program with unconditional love, sometimes financial assistance, and just by her very presence. Truly, she was the hands and feet of Jesus to so many.
She is survived by her husband, Pete Arnett, sons and daughters-in-law Waylon and Stephanie Weston and Wyatt and Jordan Weston, daughter and son-in-law Kayla and Cody McLean, grandchildren Kaitlynn, Sierra, Wade, William and Wayne, stepmother Pat Hancock, brothers and sisters-in-law J.P. and Bernadette Hancock, Wes and Stephanie Hancock, and Dean Hancock, and brother-in-law Marco.
She is preceded in death by her husband Wade Weston, and parents John and Mildred Hancock.
A memorial service will be held on October 4, 2024 starting at 1 pm, at Callaway-Jones Funeral & Cremation Center located at 3001 S College Ave, Bryan, TX 77801.
