Gary Gene Mills
May 1, 1943 - December 11, 2024
Gary Gene Mills, 81, of Houston, Texas, died on December 11, 2024, after a brief illness. Gary was born on May 1, 1943, in Goose Creek, Texas to Ramsey (Bo) and Lila Dodson Mills. He grew up in Baytown, Texas and graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1961. He attended Texas A&M University, graduating in 1965 with a degree in Industrial Technology.
Gary had a long and successful career in the chemical industry including many years with Dow Chemical, Sasol, and Formosa Plastics. This led to many exciting life experiences including living in Hong Kong and Michigan before returning to Texas. Gary loved to travel and explore new places. He was an avid golfer and loved spending time on any course with friends and family, most especially Traditions in College Station. He traveled to play golf as well, with many family trips to The Boulders in Scottsdale. Gary and Ann are huge Texas Aggie fans, attending almost every football and baseball game in the last 20 years. They traveled with close friends Bob and Candy Springs to many fun SEC away games and bowl games. He also loved family time at the Gables beach house in Surfside, floating the Guadalupe River, dancing to country music at Gruene Hall, and visiting New Orleans. Gary was known for bringing people together, and never missing a chance to celebrate and “cheers”. He lived and loved life to the fullest and leaves behind a loving legacy in his family.
Gary was surrounded by his family when he passed. He leaves behind his wife, Ann Teinert Mills, children James Mills (Stacie), John Mills (Melanie), Liz Womack Swan, and Ashley Mills Lance (Garrett). Grandchildren Sarah Rippetoe (Adam), Natalie Bass (Nathan), Zach Mills (Addie), Spencer Swan, Rebekah Johansen (Sam), Caroline Mills, Graham Swan, Shepherd Swan, and Charlotte, Phoebe and Levi Lance. He is also survived by his siblings Ramsey Mills and Beverly Mills Engelhardt and their families. Also included are extended family Jamie and Marc Webb and their children, the entire Mills and Teinert families, and so many cherished friends.
Family and friends are invited to a memorial service to celebrate Gary’s life from two until five o’clock on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at Bradshaw Carter Funeral Home, 1734 West Alabama Street in Houston, Texas. There will be a reception and a service with a tribute and remembrances. Guests are invited to wear maroon in celebration of Gary’s love for the Texas Aggies if they would like.
