Tracy Knight Casto
April 25, 1960 - September 20, 2024
Tracy Knight Casto, beloved wife, mother, grandmother ("Lolli"), friend, and community member, passed away on September 20, 2024, in Dallas, Texas, at the age of 64.
Born on April 25, 1960, in Fort Belvoir, VA, Tracy was the daughter of Ross Adams Knight and Thelma Head Knight. Tracy's early years saw her move from Charlotte, North Carolina, to St. Simons Island, GA, and eventually to Lufkin, Texas, where she graduated from high school. She continued her education at Stephen F. Austin State University, earning a degree in English and Journalism. She then attended Texas A&M University, where she earned a Master of Science degree in Political Science. These educational experiences prepared her for her role as Public Affairs Director and lobbyist for the Dallas County Medical Society, where she worked for almost 30 years.
Outside of work she was a devoted member of First Christian Church-Arlington, where her faith and community involvement played a vital role in her life. At church she loved her time as a Sunday School teacher for young children and also enjoyed using her editing skills to publish the church newsletter. Tracy's passion extended far beyond her career and church. She was an avid supporter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, participating in several marathons and half-marathons to raise awareness and funds for the cause. Her outgoing spirit and love for people also led her to campaign enthusiastically for her favorite political candidates, a testament to her commitment to the causes in which she believed.
A lover of dogs and a devoted mother, Tracy's home was filled with joy, laughter, and unwavering support for her children and grandchildren. She embraced her neighbors as friends and was always eager to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Further developing good neighbor ties, Tracy was also known for her annual neighborhood garage sales. Recently Tracy combined her love for baseball and her community by becoming a tour guide at Globe Life Park. She was a proud Rangers fan, and it gave her great joy to share her passion for the team with others.
Tracy's vibrant spirit, generosity, and zest for life will be dearly missed by all who knew her. She truly never met a stranger, and her warmth and kindness left an indelible mark on the lives of many.
Tracy is survived by husband Dan (Arlington), daughters Sarah Stafford (Lubbock) and Hannah Pulaski (Dallas), grandchildren Noah Stafford (Lubbock), Leighton Casto (College Station), Jennings and Elena Simon (College Station), and sisters Deborah Garner (Boston, MA) and Patricia McGregor (ParkCity, Utah).
A service to celebrate Tracy's life will be held at First Christian Church-Arlington, on October 11, 2024, at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to SafeHaven of Tarrant County (https://www.safehaventc.org) or the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Fort Worth (https://www.lls.org/office/ft-worth-tx).
