Lawrence Mikeska, 66, died August 25th, 2023, at his home near Shelby, Texas.
Lawrence was born February 5th, 1957, to Nelson and Ethel (Sebesta) Mikeska in Houston, Texas. He then attended Texas A&M University where he received a BS in Agricultural Sciences.
After graduating from college, he taught high school agricultural sciences classes at a high school near Wallis, Texas for two years before moving on to employment in the retail and commercial automotive parts industries in Brenham, Texas for the remainder of his career.
Lawrence enjoyed singing with the Austin County Civic Choral from 1994 to 2006 for 11 seasons in which he participated in 20 concerts. He was an active and faithful member of the Nelsonville Brethren Church and served several terms on their Board of Elders. He was also a member of the local SPJST lodge. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was always generous with gifts of venison to his family members at Christmastime. He leaves behind a large number of cousins from both sides of his family along with their children and extended families.
The family of Lawrence Mikeska would like to make a special note of heartfelt gratitude to Elizabeth, Diane, Dennis, Margie, and Joseph Geistmann along with Brother Michael Groseclose of the Nelsonville Brethren Church for their support of Lawrence during the last years of his life. Without these generous neighbors, Lawrence would not have been able to live out his life at home as were his wishes.
Funeral Services were held for Lawrence at the Nelsonville Brethren Church on Wednesday, September 6th, 2023, followed by burial at the National Cemetery.
Memorials can be made to the Nelsonville Brethren Church or to the American Diabetes Association.
