Jane Louise (Greenawalt) Anderson
January 21, 1961 - August 9, 2023
To know her was to love her. Jane Louise Anderson, age 62 of San Antonio, passed away on August 9, 2023 surrounded by family. She was a true Christian, a wife, a mother, a sister, and a daughter.
Born January 20, 1961 in Pittsburgh, PA, she was the second oldest of the five children of Lila Carol and Robert Earl Greenawalt. Her father was a chemical engineer with Mobay and moved his family from Pennsylvania to West Virginia and eventually to Texas as his job demanded. Little did Jane know, when her family landed in Baytown, TX, that would be the place where she would go to high school and fall head over heels for her incredible husband.
Jane spent her youth as an actively involved student athlete. She was on the drill team for the Drum and Bugle Corps and was the company commander her senior year. She was a strong member of the swim team and served on the student council. She was an active member of the National Honors Society and of the Junior Rotary Anns. She was a 1983 graduate of Texas A&M University, where she earned her bachelor's degree in Business Administration (Marketing).
Her husband, Tim, was the love of her life. Together as partners, they shared many laughs and created countless wonderful memories, chief among those was their shared joy of being parents and grandparents. They put God and family before all else and created a home rooted in love.
Jane served as a middle school history teacher for 23 years and made an incredible impact on each school and student she worked with. Over the course of her career, she taught World Cultures, Texas History, and US History. She cherished the relationships she made with her students and loved helping them not only engage in their learning, but also grow emotionally.
We were blessed to learn many valuable lessons from Jane during her life. She always reminded us that life is short and you need to find something positive every day. She always stressed that the little things are the most important and that if you are healthy and loved, that is really what is meaningful, nothing else. Jane truly believed that your relationships in life bring you more happiness than anything and that life is more about the quality of people in it than the quantity. Jane was a woman loved by all and she lived by the motto "everything you do, do it unto the Lord."
Jane leaves behind her beloved husband, Timothy, of 38 years; children, Matthew Anderson, wife Chelsea, Andrew Anderson, wife Gaby, her 5 adored grandchildren: Theodore, Oliver, Henry, Charlie, and Lily Jane Anderson. She is survived by her loving siblings, Dennis Greenawalt, wife Cindy, Daniel Greenawalt, wife Joan, Judy Schneider, Jennifer Yarbrough, husband Brian, and their respective families. She is also survived by her mother in law, Oda B, Anderson, brother in law, Mike Anderson, and sister in law, Ceil Tillotta.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday, August 15, 2023 from 5-8 pm at Navarre Funeral Home, 2444 Rollingbrook Dr., Baytown, TX 77521. A celebration of life will be held Wednesday, August 16, at 10:00 am in the Chapel of Navarre Funeral Home with burial to follow in Cedarcrest Cemetery, Baytown, TX.
