James David "Jim" Gorman
December 21, 1931 - October 28, 2024
Jim Gorman passed away on October 28, 2024. He was born on December 21, 1931 in Brownwood, Texas to John and Gertrude Gorman. He graduated from Brownwood High School in Brownwood, Texas in 1949. He graduated from Texas A&M University in 1953. After graduating from A&M he worked in the field of insurance in Houston, Texas until retiring in 1996. He was a founding member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church.
Jim met the love of his life Debby Cooper Gorman and they married June 24, 1959 at St. Christopher's Catholic Church Parish. They settled down in Houston and had five children, Cynthia, Leslie, David, Sharon and Douglas.
Jim enjoyed traveling with his beloved wife Debby, camping, fishing, gardening, working outside, concerts, church and barbecuing. He was a family man and he always enjoyed family get-togethers and family meals. He made the holidays truly unforgettable. His Annual Good Friday Fish Fry's he and Debby hosted for family and friends were very special to him. He also was a master Barbecue cook and his specialty was his Barbecue sauce. He was a Handyman and could fix or repair anything.
He was a loving Husband, Father, Grandpa, Great Grandpa. He was so proud of us all. We love him and he will be dearly missed.
Jim was preceded in death by wife, Deborah Gorman; parents, John and Gertrude Gorman; brother and sister-in-law, John Gorman and Helen Gorman; father-in-law and mother-in-law, J.G. Cooper and Louise Cooper; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dan Coleman and Melba Coleman; nephew, Cooper Coleman; brother-in-law Kenneth Ewald.
Jim is survived by his children, Cynthia Gorman, Leslie Canik (Gerald Canik), David Gorman, Sharon Gorman (Paul Reinshagen), Doug Gorman; grandkids, Travis Canik (Jenna Canik), Austin Canik (Rachel Canik), Dallas Canik (Gleisy Canik), Chinle Reinshagen and Hanna Reinshagen; great-grandchildren, Olivia Canik, Jackson Canik, Madeline Canik, Bradley Canik and Mia Canik; sister-in-law, Pam Ewald; nephews and nieces, Larry Gorman (Faye Gorman), Greg Gorman (Michele Gorman), Mike Gorman, Luann Gorman, Cally Fromme (Travis Fromme), Courtney Cordosa (Daryl Cordosa) and many more family members and friends.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 8200 Roos Rd., Houston, Tx 77036 on Friday November 22, 2024 at 11:00. Reception to follow.
