Don Richard Burns

December 1936 - November 15, 2024

Don Richard Burns, better known as Donny, Dad, Dangy, and a die-hard Texas A&M Aggie, reposed in the Lord early Friday morning, November 15th, just a month away from his 88th birthday.

Much can be said about his success in business, most notably what many knew him as, the owner of Burns Motors. “The Motor Company,” as he called it, had lean years, but the years of growth and plenty are what allowed Don’s heart to be revealed to so many in this life, beyond just his family. He was never one to refuse the needs of others and was quick to help his employees and literally anyone who expressed a need – from beggars, to waiters, to housekeepers, to children fighting for their lives. He was truly a selfless giver – only the Lord knowns to what extent.

His generosity was fueled by his faith in Christ, a faith he did not hide. He acknowledged that the wealth he had was given to him by God. He would read the Bible every day as part of his morning prayer routine. Many years ago, he found a devotional bible that was divided up so one could read the entire New Testament in a year. It became part of his daily life and impacted him to such a degree that he wanted everyone to have a copy. Over the last twenty or more years he bought thousands of them – entire printing runs. He had a copy given to every person who bought a vehicle from the Motor Company, and it went beyond just vehicle sales - he would give one to anyone who wanted one (or he thought needed one), and even whole boxes to those who asked. Only the Lord knows how many lives he had an impact on, for His glory. May his soul dwell in the Lord, in Christ’s Heavenly Kingdom!
