Autry R Burns, 86, passed away on July 18, 2024. He was a native Texan born on August 18, 1937 and grew up in Houston, also living throughout central Texas in Austin, Lockhart, La Grange, Buda, and finally Woodcreek. Autry completed his education at Aldine Public Schools and the University of Houston.
Autry worked most of his career for the US Federal Government at the Veteran’s Administration Data Processing Center. He was also a member of the US Military, serving in the Army Reserves with additional service with the Air Force Reserves. Autry’s lifelong hobbies and interests included collecting coins, stamps, and books, as well as leading Boy Scouts, gardening, geneology, Lockhart Community Theater, travel, cruise ship travel, and church attendance and activities. He was a dedicated blood donor, donating 25 gallons of blood while in Austin and Lockhart.
Autry lived a good life and enjoyed his hobbies, family, and friends. His church home was St. Stephens Episcopal Church of Wimberley. He especially enjoyed fried chicken and talking about Gene Autry.
Autry is survived by his wife Londa of 64 years; one sister; children Nancy, Linda, and Steven; five grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
