Funeral services for Rick Young, 49, of Rhome, Texas, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 4, 2025, at Aurora Baptist Church in Aurora, Texas, with burial to follow at Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service at the church.
Pallbearers will include Bryan Miles, Chris Miles, Austin Butler, Phillip Miles, Randy Lee, Carson Young, Wade Young, Wade Nelson; Honorary Pallbearers will include Ricky Miles, Robby Miller, Cesar Martinez, Frank Ortega, Jr., Grayson Ortega, Jack Lee, Priestley Ledger and Chris Word.
Richard “Rick” Miles Oney Floyd Young was born January 30, 1975, in Fort Worth, Texas, and went to be with our Lord and Savior on December 30, 2024, in Decatur, Texas. He was a dedicated professional who worked as a chemical engineer for BASF for eight years before becoming the owner/operator of Action Water Wells in Rhome for 18 years. Rick earned his Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering from Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas, which laid the foundation for his successful career.
Outside of work, Rick loved spending time with his family and close friends. He enjoyed outdoor activities and had a passion for watching football. Rick was an active member of the Southlake Campus Gateway Church, where he found joy in attending services and being part of the community. He also cherished attending his children's sporting events, always cheering them on with pride and enthusiasm. Rick will be remembered for his unwavering support and the love he shared for those around him. His legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Rick is preceded in death by his grandparents, Bill and Berniece Miles and O.F. and Audie Young; brother-in-law, Frank Ortega; and uncles, Clarence, Joe, and Phillip Miles.
Those left to cherish Rick’s memory are his loving wife of 24 years, Shanna (Barber) Young; son, Carson Richard Young; daughters, Morgan Adair Young and Sophie Leigh Young; parents, Richard and Rebecca Young; sisters, Heather Lee and husband Randy, and Amber Ortega; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
