John D. Williams, Jr. 

July 19, 1942 - April 9, 2024 

John D. Williams, age 81, of Eatonton, GA passed away Tuesday, April 9, 2024. A Celebration of Life Service for John will be held at the First Methodist Church of Milledgeville on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., Reverend Mac Enfinger officiating. Visitation with family will begin at 10:00 a.m. until the service. Interment will occur at a future date in Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

A native of Texas, John was born on July 19, 1942, to the late John D. Williams, Sr., and the late Margaret Ira (Walker) Williams. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his brother, Dennis Carl Williams.

After High School, John attended Texas A&M University. He was a proud Vietnam Veteran, serving as a naval aviator aboard the USS Enterprise. After military service, John was an educator. His love of teaching and learning took him to many states and countries. He retired from the College of DuPage, Glen Ellyn, IL. After retirement, he enjoyed scuba diving, volunteering as Beauregard the Clown for charities and churches and serving as a boating safety instructor and coxswain in the US Coast Guard Auxiliary.

He is survived by his wife, Jan Sprague-Williams; three sons: Trey (Jana Simpson) Williams of Little Rock AR, Sean (Kelly) Williams of Austin TX, and Joshua Williams of Greenwood, SC; seven granddaughters: Christin, Kelsey, Caitlyn, Erin, Caroline, Delaney, and Amelia; and one great granddaughter, Riley.
