Terence Lee "Terry" Rockett 

November 20, 1945 - January 29, 2025 

Terence “Terry” Rockett, age 79, passed away on January 29, 2025 in McKinney, TX. He was born in 1945 in Dallas, TX to Lisle and Grace Rockett, the youngest of six children. Terry was raised in Oak Cliff and graduated from Sunset High School in 1964. Terry was Class of 1968 at Texas A&M University.

He married Linda in 1967 in San Antonio, TX before he was deployed to Vietnam. He served honorably in Vietnam as a medic in the Army with the 45th Medical Company, the air ambulance unit. When he returned to Texas he served in the US Army Reserve until 1975. He finished his degree at Texas A&M in 1972 and went to work for the United States Postal Service, where he worked for over 30 years. He and Linda had three children.

Upon his retirement, he embarked on a second career as a grandfather. He loved nothing more than spending time with his grandkids – picking them up from school, taking them to parks, and enjoying bbq and ice cream with them. He also served several organizations, such as the Sunset High School Reunion Committee, Retired Postal Service Employees, and the Neighborhood Credit Union Nominating Board.

Terry’s family and friends will always remember him as a kind and generous person who loved a good joke. His motto was “I may grow old, but I will never grow up.” He loved people, enjoyed good food, had eclectic taste in music, and had a wonderful sense of humor. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Linda; daughter Tracey Rockett Hanft and her husband Thomas, grandsons David and Luke, and granddaughter Ella; his daughter Kimberly Richardson and her husband Chris, and granddaughter Hannah; son Terence Gregory Rockett; and his sister Evelyn Pearson.

A visitation for Terence will be held Friday, February 14, 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Ted Dickey West Funeral Home, 7990 President George Bush, Dallas, TX 75252. A funeral service will occur Saturday, February 15, 2025 at 10:00 AM, 7990 President George Bush, Dallas, TX 75252. A burial committal will occur Saturday, February 15, 2025 at Bell's Chapel Cemetery, Rockett, TX.
