Paul Lee Rice 

October 29, 1941 - January 16, 2025 

Paul Lee Rice, 83, of Anahuac, Texas passed away Thursday, January 16, 2025, in Anahuac.

Paul was born October 29, 1941, in Navasota, Texas to parents, Amos and Thelma Johnson Rice, and has been a lifelong resident of Anahuac. He was a graduate and 1960 class president of Anahuac High School. He received his bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University and his master’s degree from Lamar University earning his principal and superintendent certifications. Paul served in education for 34 years and taught more than 3,200 students.

Paul was a veteran of the US Marine Corps Reserves, a retired principal from Anahuac High School after 24 years following his tenure with Rodgers High School, and Clute Jr. High, a member and Senior Warden for Trinity Episcopal Church, and a member of the Lions Club. He also was a little league coach and officer with the Anahuac Youth Athletic Association for 15 years. Paul was a former member of the Chambers County Justice Committee. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading, and watching all sports but especially his Aggies.

Mr. Rice was preceded in death by his parents and son, Stuart Lee Rice, and sisters: Rusty, Evelyn, and Bitsy. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Marlyn Herman Rice, son: Stephen Reid Rice, daughters-in-law: Melissa Rice and Andrea Rice, brother: Wayne Rice and wife Elma, grandchildren: Taylor Rice, Nicholas Rice, Madison and husband Luke Snell, one great-grandchild on the way, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., with a celebration of life ceremony at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 25, 2025, at the First Methodist Church Anahuac.
