Gary Lynn Snowden 

February 21, 1957 - February 5, 2025 

Gary Lynn Snowden, born on February 21, 1957, at Florence Nightingale Hospital in Dallas, Texas, was called home on February 5, 2025. He was the son of Curtis D. and Loreta Mitchell Snowden and is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Alan Snowden.

Gary is survived by his nephew, Alan Snowden and his wife Samantha; his nieces, Chelsea Evans and her husband James, and Carolyn Quinlan and her husband Dennis; as well as a host of extended family and friends.

A proud graduate of Skyline High School, Class of 1975, Gary earned degrees from Texas A&M University and The University of Texas at Arlington. He was on long-term disability from the Boy Scouts of America, having served as a District Executive for local councils in Ardmore, Ok, Amarillo, and Abilene. An accomplished Eagle Scout, Gary was also a Vigil honor member of the Order of the Arrow, reflecting his commitment to scouting and community service.

In addition to his work with the Boy Scouts, Gary was a member of the Dumas Masonic Lodge and the Lubbock Scottish Rite Bodies. He was an active member of Lakeside Baptist Church (now Lakepointe Church – East Dallas) since childhood and recently attended First Baptist Church – Dallas.

Gary had a passion for genealogy, which led him to become a member of both the Sons of the Republic of Texas and the Sons of the American Revolution. Additionally, Gary was an accomplished Amateur Radio Operator, contributing to the amateur radio community through his involvement with the White Rock ARC, the Garland ARC, and the Dallas ARC.

A Celebration of Life service will be held in the chapel of Sparkman-Crane Funeral Home (10501 Garland Road, Dallas, Texas 75218) on March 13, 2025, at 2:00 PM. Gary’s final resting place will be in Tool, Texas in the old section of the cemetery at Providence Baptist Church at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, Gary has requested that donations be made to the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children in Dallas.
