Clifton Edward Butler
March 31, 1955 - November 13, 2024
Clifton Edward Butler of Salida, California, passed away Wednesday, November 13, 2024, after losing a battle with pancreatic cancer. Clifton was the first born to John Gordon Butler, Jr. and Carlene King Butler, of Rio Medina, Texas. He was born at Lackland Air Force Base, Wilford Hall Annex on March 31, 1955.
Clifton graduated from John Jay High School in 1973. He then attended Texas A&M University and was a member of the Aggie Band. Clifton later earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology. Clifton was his father’s son and like his father, he served over 20 years in the United States Air Force, taught for another 25 years and had a great love for baseball. Clifton’s fondest station assignment was when he was stationed in Alaska. Clifton taught computer programming around the world. This allowed him the opportunity to travel the world many times over and he thoroughly enjoyed visiting new countries and experiencing various cultures.
Clifton is proceeded in death by his parents, John G. Butler, Jr. and Carlene King Butler, nephews, Moses Butler and Jack Butler.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Sharon Butler and his step-son, Scott Smith and family of Oklahoma; estranged sons, Aaron Butler and Jeremiah Butler; Aaron’s daughter and son, Mackenzie Butler and John Earl Butler; and Jeremiah’s daughter, Miah Butler.
He is also survived by his uncles, Carl King and wife Paula of Michigan; Victor Clark of California; sister Johnna Butler of Kerrville, Texas and her children and grandchildren, Jason (Stacy) Skow & children Chase and Haylee; and Kelsey Lyons & children Quentin and Madison.
Finally, his little brother, Richard Butler of Mico, Texas and his children and grandchildren, Nathanial (LeAnn) Butler & children Nattie, Noah, Raylee and Ezra; Rikki (Michael) Zinsmeyer & children Mikayla, John, Mikki and Mika; Zachariah Butler; Izekial (Magda) Butler and children Mozes and Mathiaz; Elijahwan Butler; and Finian Butler.
