Katherine Anne "Katie" (Ogden) Bennett

October 30, 1975 - February 17, 2025

Katherine "Katie" Anne Ogden-Bennett, born on October 30, 1975, in Bryan, Texas, to Herbert Guy Ogden, Jr. and Kathleen (Sylvester) Ogden, passed away unexpectedly on February 17, 2025, in Burleson, Texas, at the age of forty-nine years.

Katie was a devoted mother and grandmother who cherished the time spent with her family. She had a passion for the outdoors, often enjoying "off-roading" adventures in Jeeps. A gifted craftswoman, she found joy in knitting, especially with fleece, and engaged in various crafting activities in her spare time.

Her love for aviation led her to study Aerospace Engineering from 2004 to 2008 before she transitioned to a focus on Agriculture. Katie graduated from Texas A&M University with a bachelor's degree in Agribusiness Entrepreneurship in 2023. Her love for animals was profound; she particularly adored alpacas, which she raised as part of her vision to establish a Fiber and Textile Mill rooted in her alpaca farm.

Katie was active in her community, being an FFA Alumni and a member of the Johnson County Master Gardener’s Club.

She is preceded in death by her grandfathers, Burnis Edward "Whit" Sylvester and Herbert Guy Ogden, Sr.; grandmothers, Marjorie (Glover) Sylvester and Alta Jewel "Judy" (Dunn) Ogden; uncles, Richard, Wayne, and Edward Lynn Ogden; and aunt, Cheryl Jean Brown.

Katie is survived by her two beautiful daughters, Emalee Ogden-Chapman and Katelynn "Kate" Ogden-Bennett; granddaughter, Kiara Jewel Ogden; father, Herbert Guy Ogden, Jr.; mother, Kathleen Ogden; sister, Kelli Wusterhausen and husband, Jerry; niece, Whitney Boatright; great-nephew, Mason; ex-husband, Jared Bennett; and her beloved German shepherd, "Whiskey," along with a host of other relatives and friends.

The family will receive visitors on Friday, February 21, 2025, beginning at 1:00 PM until service time at 2:00 PM at Groveton Funeral Home in Groveton, Texas. Burial will follow in Carlisle Cemetery. She will be escorted to her final resting place by her pallbearers: Jerry Wusterhausen, Jared Bennett, Joel Cruz, Roland Martinez, Charlie Sylvester, Roy Luna, and Eugene Glover.

Katie will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
