Richard Arlen Osborne 

October 31, 1953 - February 26, 2025 

Richard Arlen Osborne, age 71, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2025 in San Antonio, Texas. He was born to Bill and JoAnn Osborne in Wichita, Kansas October 31, 1953.

Richard attended Lee High School, where he played football, basketball, and ran track. Richard was a fierce competitor and phenomenal athlete. He was part of the 1971 Lee State Championship football team. During his senior year he made All State, All American, and Texas High School Player of the year in football. Richard was inducted into the Texas High School football Hall of Fame in 1993.

Richard went on to play four seasons of football for Texas A&M University as tight end, earning all SW Conference in 1975. Richard was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in 1975, and throughout his five years in the NFL, also played for the New York Jets and St. Louis.

Richard enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing golf. His daughter Hallie, son-in-law, Nick, and his grandchildren, Ashton and Denver, brought him the most joy and happiness. He was a wonderful father to his daughter and “Grandpa Richard” to his grandchildren. Richard was thoughtful, generous, gregarious, and humorous. He had a “larger than life” personality. Richard was a good brother, friend, father and grandfather. Richard was loved by all who knew him and a mentor to many. His legacy will live on through his family, friends, and all who’s lives he touched.

Richard is survived by his daughter: Hallie Osborne Raymos and husband, Nick, of San Antonio, Texas; grandchildren: Ashton and Denver, of San Antonio, Texas; brothers: Jon Osborne and Doug Osborne, of San Antonio, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by parents: Bill and JoAnn Osborne, his brother, Bruce Osborne, and Kimberly Pizinni Osborne (mother of Hallie).

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, March 11, 2025 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Porter Loring Mortuary North, 2102 N. Loop 1604 E., San Antonio, Texas 78232.
